Welcome To Wingham

Wingham is located in North Huron.

It is home to Alice Munro’s birth place. Canadian short story writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013.

Enjoy an afternoon canoe trip or picnic along the Maitland River in the Wawanosh Park Conservation Area. If you love to fish, try your luck on the Maitland River fishing for rainbow trout, bass or chinook salmon. You can even book a camping trip in the Wawanosh Park Conservation Area.

Wingham is home to an amazing butcher shop called Green’s Meat Market.  You will have to try their homemade bologna and we love their beef burger patties in our house!

If you love good old Canadian Maple Syrup, look no further! Proper’s Maple Farm has you covered for fresh, local and amazing quality syrup for those Sunday pancake breakfast with the family. Check out more below.

If your looking for something to do, you can always check out what’s going on at the North Huron Recreation centre. Who knows, maybe there’s a good hockey game happening?

Delicious Restaurant's In The Neighbourhood

The heart of Wingham can be found here most summer evenings.  This is a must visit for all things ice cream, and quick delicious takeout food.

Some good old scratch home cooking found right here.  Outdoor patio down by the Maitland River in the summer makes this a great spot for meeting with friends.

A new business that opened in 2021, ready to fill the cravings you desire from a pub with a fresh and unique twist.

6 Reasons You'll LOVE it:

  1. Competitive gas prices.
  2. Good local restaurants to choose from.
  3. Two grocery stores and a natural food store.
  4. All the amenities you need PLUS indulgences you don’t such as KFC and McDonald’s.
  5. Local community events and close-knit community feel.
  6. Local hospital.

2 Reasons You'll hate it:

  1. Can one small town have too many gas stations? If they can, it may be called Wingham. 🙂
  2. To be completely honest, don’t speed through town even a little, or you might find yourself with some flashing lights behind you in a hurry. (PS. I don’t condone speeding!)
Local Maple Syrup Farm
PROPER'S MAPLE FARM

They offer a variety of colours and sizes and will even show you around the sugar shack. Call ahead to visit their farm and pick up your next bottle of maple syrup!
