Huron County Firefighter’s Breakfast

My family and I love attending any of the local Huron County Firefighter’s Breakfast events during the year.

This past Saturday July 1st we attending the annual Seaforth Firefighter’s Breakfast.  It is such an amazing sight to come out and see how the community really comes together to support the men and women who dedicate their time and possibly their lives to help our community.

Anywhere from Wingham Fire Department (North Huron), Brucefield Fire Department,  Hensall Fire Department, Seaforth Fire Department and so on put on a generous feast for the community and surrounding towns to enjoy.  The best part is that most of them put the fire trucks out on display and let the kids touch, feel and get in the trucks.  

Some events even provide firemen hats for the kids to take home, how cool right?

Most of the breakfasts are packed with SO many options for everyone.  Anything from eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, hashbrowns, fruit cups, coffee, tea, juice, and even milk and chocolate milk. Some towns serve over 1000 people and go through 300 lbs of potatoes, over 150 dozen eggs, 100 loaves of bread, 275 lbs of bacon, over 40 lbs of pancake mix, 180 lbs of sausage and litres and litres of maple syrup!

How do they get so much food? Well the great part is that many of these delicious foods are donated by local farmers, businesses or donations.

What do they use the money for? Well each department is different but they use it for equipment and training materials, charities or for local events such as annual fireworks.
